What is the difference between bristol university and uwe

Accommodation options on campus are very limited and can be expensive. The student union is one of the best places on campus and gets very involved with events and everything. The campus is big and it is. Not the real Uni experience, no use of faculities no socialising hasuishswjjsjssj. UWE make a great act of caring and being the best, but when you really do end up needing help and assistance they toss you to the side and force you through the most purposely painfully long corrupt system possible.

The halls are awful, the department is shambles. That's sad. The lecturer are alight. Some of them are good but some of them are really really bad. They come to lecture without preparation. They attached old regulations with the marks which misguided me. Why would anyone study in a university where their regulations are not accurate or misguiding.

On top of everything, student has to suffer for their mistake. I lost first class honours because of universities mistake. I appealed for my marks as I thought it was unfair on me.

They rejected my appeal. Seriously guys, save yourself from UWE. I have ruined my 3 years already. University is expensive so chose wisely. Terrible service from a terribly run institution. Lack of organisation has resulted in many issues amongst my cohort ranging from lecturers not knowing how to answer questions based on what they are teaching, wrongly published marks- creating false hopes then completely demoralising you, timetables being issued one day before the start of a semester, the list can go on.

Since I started my degree I have had to deal with countless issues such as parking to get to my lectures and being penalised as their car parks are packed to the brim. Communication during Covid has been terrible also, no sense of care towards students, all they care for is getting money in the bank. Very quick to issue fines and chase up outstanding payments, but trying to get help is a mission in itself. I would not recommend UWE to anyone after 3 years studying with them.

Teaching is Great, facilities are nice. Overall the campus has really good vibes. But the support staff are absolutely useless, it's like they don't even care. Honestly if you have problems with anything that can't be helped just by your lectures then you are royally screwed.

Also if you have any mental health issues, go private or off campus,. Staff are wonderful and friendly. However have not participated in the student union, careers service or clubs and societies. During my first year in UWE Bristol I had a brilliant time in my course as there was always help from staff as well as there being really good facilities. I studied at Bower Ashton Campus and even though at times I wanted to drop out, I have super fond memories of the place.

Great university, easy to get there if you live in the city centre and there are many support especially the wellbeing support team, the learning system is good as well, with different resources.

Students union is a joke. The university has fantastics facilities, accomondation as well as welcoming staffs and students!

Location of the school is a little bit further from city centre. By the staff there are always supportive. There is a stronger sense of community here than most campuses. The prices at the student shop are a bit overpriced as there was inflation. The food served at Onezone has also improved, and the subway was a solid addition.

A pretty dead university with minimal facilities compared to others. UWE is a fantastic Uni which offers an excellent student experience. The teaching, student support and career opportunities are a key standout for UWE and is constantly on the rise. I would highly recommend UWE to anyone interested in going to university. New engineering block looks fab!

Good equipment, and in my field Aerospace some excellent lecturers and facilities. Could use some better budgeting so we don't get a brand new block full of high tech stuff right next to a 's building full of asbestos but hey ho. Organisation is an absolute joke. Frenchay is completely seperate to the other better campuses. Absolutely fantastic! Such a fantastic atmosphere around the place, as well as improving massively every single day!

I really enjoyed my time in bristol however i feel at no point was that due to the uni. Very family oriented, lectures are always available to help. Accomodation is very very good, especially wallscourt park houses. At UWE all the money is spent on Frenchay campus so if you're going to Glenside it's like the poorer relative that nobody remembers or cares about.

The Wi-Fi is shockingly slow and you can be sat there for ten minutes waiting just to log on. The Frenchay campus have tablets outside the room to show booked study spaces, Glenside doesn't so you're constantly having to throw people out of booked spaces. Questions I have asked the librarians over the net, they haven't been able to answer and have just sent me links and I'm talking basic questions.

Considering Glenside homes the health professions there is no gym, not even a running track which is beyond poor. Parking is horrific you buy an annual pass and instead of being assigned a space you'll be lucky to find one, especially when they keep kicking you off for welcome events. Overall lecturers are friendly and approachable and teach well, however you always get one and we certainly have her.

I came here on foundation year after not getting the grades. Staff super inspiring and helpful, now I'm top off my class changed course to a better more challenging one. Thank you for your feedback; we couldn't be happier that you are enjoying your time at UWE Bristol! Loads of careers help with knowledgeable staff.

Everything a student could ever need to have the best years of their life and get a quality degree. Thank you for your feedback; we couldn't be happier that you enjoyed your time at UWE Bristol! Social and lots of contact points for students in need of help. I studied at UWE at postgraduate level this year and found it to be the best learning experience I've experienced.

Toilet in E block has been out of order for a week now, an example of how the campus runs on a bare minimum. If you fancy a flat pint in a dirty glass then the students union bar is the place to go. These comments are highly nit picky, I understand however it's the easiest way for me to explain the campus experience is liveable but not exactly enjoyable.

Teaching is effective and helpful however the engagement hours are low and the timetables always seem to cause inconveniences. The internet, you guessed it, is sufficient at best, and unusable at worst. The ISP maintainenece service is slow and unresponsive and the infrastructure didnt work when I lived in halls.

In house "eduroam" service feels impossible to log into. This in turn forces me to use my data to access their learning materials as the teaching staff wont print the material half the time. Thanks for your feedback; we're sorry you feel this way. We welcome all feedback, both positive and negative, and consider complaints to be a valuable source of information enabling us to improve services and enhance the student experience.

In second year and have enjoyed the experience and facilities of the uni so far. Thank you for your feedback; we couldn't be happier that you are enjoying your time at UWE Bristol. For SU events, you'd need to speak to the them directly as we are not responsible for the SU; they are a separate organisation.

Banging uni, went to Manchester met for 2 months and hated it compared. Its a really good uni, I easily made lots of friends from the first week. Facilities are great and easy to get around. We will feed this back to our colleagues in the library. Thanks for taking the time to review us. As a mature student the staff couldn't be more helpful. The course work is very in depth and provides you with a thorough knowledge of your topic. The anatomical and normal library are of excellent standards and if you can't get in due to snow etc the lectures are recorded on panapto so you can easily catch up.

Very close to Bristol City which is amazingly conveinent. Really engaging and helpful staff and environment is friendly as well. UWE is a great university all round. Staff are generally very helpful and always willing to give you advise on your course. Bristol city centre is only a 20 min bus ride away which makes getting to and back from nights out very convenient. UWE has wonderful staff, lots of unique societies and events and is overall just a fun and open learning experience.

Very much love going here. The best Uni with the best teachers. Every one is friendly and always helpful. Dedicated lecturers, friendly campus staff and excellent course programmes. The best and only the best. Amazing people and they help you fit in instantly. It is the best uni by far for people wanting to experience new cultures and different things. Come to UWE and change your perspective on life and culture forever. Thanks for your feedback.

We're sorry you experienced issues with accommodation - we're glad to hear this is resolved now and that are you enjoying life at UWE Bristol. The campus is so incredibly tidy, if you need maintenance they come so quickly, the rooms even the cheapest ones are so good complete with everything you need.

The little things surprised me the most, like the welcome pack. Its such a friendly social uni. Good student support, facilities and teaching classrooms. Love this uni! Good uni overall. Can't say I know much since I couldn't even get into halls of residence and there's now a people waiting list which I wasn't put on automatically once it was created. Once completing my 6 hour travel most, if not all, the viewings are cancelled or there's no hope of your offer getting accepted anyway.

No housing. Extremely expensive. Pathetic accommodation system that doesn't even show you which rooms are available. You just choose 6 and cross your fingers. We're sorry to hear this was your experience. Our Accommodation team would be happy to discuss alternative options with you. Fantastic Uni with phenomenal facilities. The base package is awful.. Thanks for your feedback on the WiFi; we will share this with the relevant service. Great courses, modern buildings, easy to find and beautiful campus.

Teaching staff are incredible offering amazing support. Studying here in my 3rd year on a Biosciences masters course. Accomodation in first year is also second to none, great value for money, especially Wallscourt houses! Its an ok uni. Some of the lecturers can be very unprofessional and can't take criticism. Its their way or the high way sort of thing.

Honestly joined the uni thinking it would be good even tho its ranked kinda low. But now I realise why its not ranked higher. Wouldn't recommend an engineering course here as a lot of the staff are patronising on subjects that would not have been taught at a levels. They expect you to know of the bat.

I'm paying around 9k to learn not be told I'm stupid for something I don't know and it being your job to tell us as students the new information we need to graduate with the knowledge to work in industry. I was ar bower ashton campus, if you enjoy a small and quiet campus you will like it. I felt forgotten about as all the social events were on the main campus at frenchay and there wasnt much concern for mental health as i wanted to drop out and had no idea who to turn when i got to my lowest point.

Particularly the latter as they are responsible for organising student activities across campuses. The level of teaching is excellent, the wellbeing and careers department are incredible and I will be sorry to be graduating next year! Teaching is good, looking after student welfare is poor and understaning of student mental health is bad. It's a good university if you are certain you won't have any problems with mental health etc while there. At UWE Bristol, we know that the mental health and wellbeing of our university community is fundamentally important in enabling our students to engage, perform and flourish.

We have more than different services and activities at the University that are related to mental health and wellbeing. These services include workshops, counselling support and drop-in sessions. Our uni keeps getting better. It was a great uni when I arrived but with the addition of more student accommodation on campus, the new business and engineering block, as well as some smaller projects across the campus, it has brung UWE into this century and the next.

The uni is always seeking better staff to improve its education. WiFi is great on campus but could do with some improvements in the student village accommodations. The student union is quite basic, but serves its purpose well. Hi there, thanks for your review. We're pleased to hear that you are enjoying our modern facilities. Very good university with great facilities at frenchay campus however glenside Campus is neglected and living in halls on glenside almost felt like a prison.

Again, the university needs to stop neglecting glenside, especially the halls of residence. But, if you are expected to spend your time on frenchay campus you will most likely have nothing to worry about. Particularly the latter as they are responsible for organising events and activities on campus. Hope this helps. Student accommodation is a great convenient place to live and a great way to meet people. I love it here so much. Going into my third year of uni and it has been the best 3 years of life!

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry you didn't feel your course was right for you, though pleased you felt well supported and enjoyed our facilities. Just finished studying my degree here and I cannot recommend this place at all. Recieved little to no support throughout my studies especially with my dissertation. The campus is constantly being modernised so you're effectively studying on a building site, that said when construction was finished the building was great, but only if you do business and law no other courses have lectures there and have to deal with the old damp buildings.

Despite the lovely new building the quality of teaching for business was still lacking with many lecturers clearly wanting to be doing anything else than engage with students. Many positive reviews about this place were written with lecturers standing over students shoulders questioning anything negative written. We welcome all feedback, both positive and negative, and considers complaints to be a valuable source of information enabling us to improve services and enhance the student experience.

Teaching is good, however on some degrees they read the PowerPoint slides. SU is good on frenchay with reasonable prices and events hosted however on glenside is always empty and quiet and usually closed. Feels like the USSR, campus is barren and nobody is ever there. Hello, thanks for your comments. It is quiet at present as it's the summer holidays. Usually our campus is bustling! I am doing the biomedical science degree. The labs have the latest equipment and most the professors are great.

Theres a lot of information available and the course is very interesting. Course was very disorganised, often getting important deadlines and dates incorrect. Lecturer barely showed up for the most crucial parts of 3rd year. Feedback was never aimed at improving artistic ability or professionalism, more so at aiding in getting an internship-which for the vast majority was not a likely path to take after the course.

A small percentage of students were favoured over the rest of the group, creating a clique amongst the lecturers and said students. Excellent services and facilities with friendly staff and students all around campus. Also a very pretty campus. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We'd really appreciate finding out more about the areas of UWE Bristol that you think could be improved.

Amazing place to start your new life. Everything is given, you just need to study. Started uni here and got in a mentally and physically abusive relationship with another student. That person got kicked out of campus halls by the university whilst I was involved with him. When it got to its worst point at the end of the year - to the point where I was in a situation where had to run for my life, I then went to student conduct at the end of it all and asked for their help.

All he got was a warning and another chance to come back to uni. When he actually broke every rule in the student conduct agreement. I gained mental health issues at the thought of having to face him on campus. Made me reluctant to go to lectures. This is the worst uni you will ever come across. I got swept under the rug completely. Hi, we're really sorry this was your experience.

Lecturers did not seem to engage the students, let alone themselves in what they were teaching. Support services for wellbeing were abysmal, and found staff patronising. Was promised a myriad of things before starting my course at this university only for it to fall short. I regret my choice of this university and will not being coming back. Very sad as it could be so much better. Hello, we're sorry to hear this. Is there any way we can help? Sorry you feel this way. At UWE Bristol one of our goals is to ensure that our students have the best experience possible.

Listening and responding to the student voice is vital and we take student engagement very seriously. The staff are really helpful, the teachers are amazing. There is such a nice community. I like uwe, certain buildings are really great and the cafes are good. Some building could do with updating and the SU need some more events to improve it. Frenchay is amazing but Glenside is crap.

They clearly spend all their money on frenchay campus. Hello, thanks for your feedback. We're sorry you feel this way. Uwe is the university for young students who not only wish to enjoy their university experience, but also enjoy their time doing it. I have never felt more comfortable, confident or valued. Amazing and friendly uni, very welcoming and facilitating for all.

I used to lose my wallet in the garden of UWE but my friends, the security team help me to find it. Sorry to hear you feel this way. You can share any feedback with the SU via: thestudentsunion uwe. Fab uni.

Great campus that keeps expanding and being updated. The tutors are all friendly and helpful. Support is there if needed. The halls of residence are nice and the night life in Bristol is the best! But great uni experience in an amazing city.

Frenchay campus is where everything is if you are at bower you are pretty much an outcast and not much happens there. You can discuss activities and events with your course rep or the Students Union. Absolutely fantastic university - The university experience is phenomenal.

No regrets. This university, while maybe not the oldest or most well known, is rapidly rising through the ranks - and for good reason. With excellent teaching and a keen focus on the stem subjects to be expected from what once was a polytechnic institute , UWE is set on increasing its reputation and becoming a force to be reckoned with.

It is particularly well known for its robotics and aerospace work, with large facilities catering to these subjects. Admittedly, the lack of history behind the University does hinder it in terms of projects outside its specialities, for as well regarded as it is in the STEM subjects, it does not yet have the same reputation in the humanities - nor the history to back it up. Time will tell if this is something that will change in the coming years.

Helpful staff, friendly environment, providing even to international and European students a place, where they can feel security away from their home countries. Prioritize students and offer great help in every aspect possible.

Loved every minute of it, great city great campus great peopen. Its a very nice uni with great facilities and always getting better.

Accommodation, city and campus incredible and homely. A great place to go to university. I'm just about to finish my degree at UWE. The curriculum has been terrible you basically do the same thing every year. The level of teaching is awful if you manage to sit through one of their tedious and unengaging, if you ask a lecturer a question it's very unlikely you will get a clear or even correct response in most cases.

I have been let down and lied to by this uni and people should avoid it. For example my dissertation supervisor didn't even know what the learning criteria was. My personal tutor lied to me on the open day about professional qualifications when I queried it I was ignored when I pushed it further I was still ignored.

All in all I wish I never went here what people say is true it is awful, and if someone says otherwise they are either lying to make their degree sound better, or have been force to write a positive review with their lecturer standing over them. However the facilities are nice so long as you're a business student otherwise its a dump. Cannot believe we pay so much for so little. Gross campus, dire uni halls. There are organised events more than once a week and the facilities are always top notch.

UWE has state of the art facilities including a new law and business faculty. The new engineering faculty is being built and I have not seen a university that is as up to date as this one. The university does lack open spaces to sit on nice days there used to be a massive area where the engineering building is being placed.

I have loved my experience so far at UWE. Have you tried Stoke Park, which is near to Frenchay campus? It's a short walk away and is lovely in the sunshine. The accommodation has been a nightmare with me having to leave campus to get oht of my house. Accommodation did nothing. Had some good lectures but the rest have been useless and patronizing. Hello, we're sorry this has been your experience. Our Accommodation Team works hard to support students who aren't happy in their choice of accommodation.

Would you like to send us a direct message via: infopoint uwe. UWE is a fantastic progressive university, great for anyone looking to further their future in a well connected friendly environment. Thank you for sharing this; we're so pleased you're enjoying your UWE Bristol experience. Can't complain, their SU is good with events and there's loads of things to join in with around Bristol. Great facilities. Nervous about first week, however settled right in.

Hi there, we are so glad to hear that you are enjoying your time at UWE Bristol so far! Starting university is always a nervewracking experience but we're delighted you settled in quickly. Literally the best uni I could have imaginened to go to!

Not a bad word to say. Thank you for your feedback and we couldn't be happier that you are enjoying your time at UWE Bristol! Please can you send an email to: infopoint uwe. It's a good uni, lots of events and help from teachers, always spaces to study and get work done. Parking is utterly awful though, I've you're not in by 10am you'll be circling the car park for half an hour for a space.

Thank you for your feedback - we're aware of issues with parking at Frenchay campus and are working to improve this. Uwe is great and nursing is such an amazing course here! Bristol is the best city and I really think the lecturers are fab! Hi there, thank you for your review. We are really pleased to hear that you are enjoying your course! We're proud of our state of the art facilities in nursing and midwifery. Great university with comprehensive support for all students.

Providing our students with all-inclusive support and advice is of the highest importance to us so we are really glad that you are pleased with our services. It's also great to hear that you have enjoyed our award-winning Bristol Business School!

Great night life, started to build really modern facilities. Needs better sports centre. We'd really appreciate hearing how you feel our centre for sports could be improved. Please can you contact us directly: centreforsport uwe.

Good facilities with constant improvement, I would like more support for alumni as certain buildings and facility's are pointless for current students and the sharing of facilities between faculties. Apart from that there is a club for everything, social media places for accommodation and a good social media presence. Overall performance of UWE is totally in satisfactory level in terms of facilities and services.

In learning, all the Lecturers are keen to support the students needs at anytime when they got free time. The moving in and settling in went smoothly, along with settling into university life. Not only starting lectures but socialising with the help of the freshers events put on at the SU and promoted by the Student Union.

Also halls wars allowed me to meet people from differnt corners of campus and really allowed me to make a diverse set of friends. Even after freshers the SU and uni have continued to put on events and with Christmas coming up I cannot wait to take part in them. The business block is also amazing and the lecturers are also super nice and are always willing to lend a hand.

Thank you for your feedback - we couldn't be happier that you are enjoying your time at UWE Bristol! Uwe is the most friendly university ever!

Things are always changing due to the students needs, such as free black and white printing now! Tutors are fab and love my course but spike island feels a bit far away and disconnected from the uni.

Not much uni culture. Thank you for your feedback - we're sorry you're feeling a bit disconnected. Have you spoken to your tutors or fellow students about this? Friendly university with extremely helpful staff who push you to do better. Student life at UWE Bristol is what you make of it. Clubs, societies, friends, support are all there for you. Feel at home from the moment you arrive with our accommodation options, both on campus and in the city centre.

Get active with a wide range of clubs, societies and well-equipped sports facilities. There is something here for everyone. With three campuses spanning the city, you'll find the right place for you. We have an extensive network of active alumni across the world who are connecting and supporting each other. Choose a mindset.
